A must have for all headbangers! The question has been answered, DevilDriver is for real. I loved hearing this album so much I heard tracks from various sources I instantly bought a copy well before the US release date. BUY IT! You won't regret it! Great product. It's devildriver you should know what your getting. This is by far one of the heaviest and melodic albums in its genre it definetly my favorite DD and a must have for any metal fan great melodies and vocals.

Been listening to Dez since he was in Coal Chamber. Nice to see the metal guys listened to in high school actual mature as a musician. Doesn't happen all the time. Love it! See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Devildriver's first album was, in m opinion, an absolutely fabulous opening strike by the frankly bullied by the press and musical snobs Dez Fafara, formerly of Coal Chamber a band that took a lot of flak from a lot of people who wanted desperately to prove that they were totally metal.

Devildriver is Mr Fafara proving he is totally metal and for the most part it works well. If you listen carefully you can almost hear the Coal Chamber moments, hidden in plain sight, perhaps as a bit of a shove it to critics?

Heavy in a way that could attract a big audience. The mix of rhythm and occasional breakout leads also mirror that album as well. The leads can at times feel almost epic but for the most part the groove and violent cookie monster vocals are the hooks to this thundering album, luckily they work very well.

Sound wise this album is better than the self titled debut, the guitars especially, however, I think the debut stands above this album, mainly because of the greater diversity available on the debut, which made it slightly more interesting and exciting.

One person found this helpful. Devildriver's third studio album The Last Kind Words, released in to a more receptive audience than their debut enjoyed, saw the band mix in large melodeath influences into their usual groove orientated sound. The production was slick and professional, the lyrics were improved and the band were confident; finally gaining respect from everyone who eyed them with suspicion previously.

Rank: 91 for With tensions rising and relationships getting rougher and rougher day by day, Coal Chamber finally decided to call it quits in DevilDriver's music is fast, aggressive, technical, well-composed, and gripping.

Very aggressive, even brutal, and at the same time technical guitar work, well-executed raspy vocals, gripping songs, and powerful drumming that keeps everything intact perfectly. Most notable of all though is the lead guitar work. From technically twisted bridges and fiercely shredded solos to chugging low sections, the lead guitar attack never stops and keeps things relentless till the final song, "The Axe Shall Fall".
