It sees the Canadian artist and her new collaborators deliver suitably arresting, personal and ear-catching songs built on mixing and matching a surprisingly wide variety of musical inspirations, from Blondie, classic disco and mutilated heavy metal guitars, to Kraftwerk, Billie Holliday, Fleetwood Mac and Daft Punk. It's a big shift for the previously highly experimental artist, but thanks to her skill as both a a producer and performer, one that works magnificently well.
Dark Entries US. This album follows up a sizable EP for Berlin label Spe:c last year, and draws you in fast and effectively with its seductive brand of nightwalker electro. From the slithering drum machine beats to the artful reverb deployment, there's a tangible atmosphere Sepehr seems keen to draw you into - one where the streets are lit by flickering neon lights and disembodied voices echo down haunted alleyways.
It's sinister, but not excessively gloomy - the kind of creepy electro that Dark Entries was built for. State Of Pressure EP 12". Nerve Deposit 12". Dekmantel Holland. OMAR S. As a bonus for those who already have the album, this part contains two vinyl exclusive tracks; the soothing deepness of "She's Sah Hero Nik" and the delayed organ weirdness of "Broken Bamalance Horn" - both more than worth the price of admission alone. Live Again 12". Drumcode Sweden.
Adam Beyer has called in rising star Layton Giordani for a collaboration with the don of the Big Apple himself: Danny Tenaglia, on the powerful and euphoric anthem "Live Again". This one has all the druggy vocals, tunnelling bassline and headrush inducing suspense you'd expect from the label. The flip features the rhythm focused DJ tool "Secrets Of Vibration" featuring a sexy spiritual monologue over a powerful TR workout that reaches near tribal moments - matter of fact it's reminiscent of Samuel L Session's seminal work from the late '90s.
Finally, we are treated to one more exercise in dancefloor drama on the brooding "Take It Back" which features a razor sharp bassline, diva vocals and soaring arpeggios. Fuck Resident Advisor 2xLP. This is unfortunate, because as usual Alex 'Omar' Smith has hit the spot.
The six untitled tracks are impressively varied, with Smith effortlessly moving between 21st century P-funk track one , cowbell-powered deep house funk track 2 , sparse and synth-heavy acid house hypnotism track three , disco-house jack track four , sub-heavy Detroit-meets-Sheffield minimalism track five and sunrise-ready dancefloor dreaminess track six.
Planet Rhythm. Tresor Germany. More surprisingly, it's also his first album to appear on wax. It's a forthright, all-action affair with Semsroth peppering high-tempo, lo-fi techno beats with a variety of unsettling, creepy and mind-altering musical loops.
This is fiendishly heavy club techno that takes no prisoners, though there's enough variety and melodic flashes to keep most listeners happy. Check for example the alien bleeps of deeper rub "Leave", the panicked and breathless industrial techno chase of "Fence" and the noisy, ear-pulverising insanity of "Concrete", a track that's as weighty and dense as its title suggests. The opening "Flex" is one of the greatest of its kind, a near 7 minute voyage of sparse drums, heavy bass and a level of euphoria that is close to match anywhere else.
This gear really does sound like it was made the other day. Warmly recommended. Fire In Negative clear vinyl 12". Hold Dat EP 12". He's at it again on Tectonic debut Hold Dat, with BPM opener 'Hold Down' seemingly existing in the no-man's land between grime, dubstep and polyrhythmic techno. Closer 'Dirty Letter' is a little easier to get a handle on - it's basically a grime instrumental - but no less impactful.
A hugely impressive, must-check EP. The First Circle LP. Neroli Italy. It's a neat idea and one that has resulted in a string of superb pieces, many of which sit somewhere between ambient, new age and the "Fourth World" work of Jon Hassell. Mark roughens up the percussion and gives us a slightly more gruff bassline for his version whilst still managing to maintain tight dancefloor appeal.
The warped melodies, chopped up vocals and drak grunts add to making this a more heady affair than the original. Todd Bodine presents codebreaker A1 Codebreaker — codebreaker. After his stunning LP on Tresor Records earlier this year, Todd Bodine drops another musical bomb with his 4th release - and probably best - release on our platform!

Let's not forget about the aside now Should rock well on a big system.
Various Artists: Tresor. Atmospheres, Tresor. Print it out, cut it out and create your own home version of a Tresor CD! One only needs to listen to early Terry Riley or Steve Reich to get the point. The genre has expanded in widened frontiers that now include music from all over the world, mixed, sampled and reproduced electronically for the low-key listener. Over the years, Tresor artists have now and then captured this style with a single track on an album, often unnoticed by our techno fans but nevertheless an important addition to the uniqueness of the family of electronic music composers on the Tresor label.
Therefore we have assembled a collection of these slow, atmospheric tracks from various Tresor releases, featuring some of our most distinguished artists such as Jeff Mills, DJ T, Surgeon, Drexciya, Pacou, Todd Bodine and many more. Beginning and ending with two tracks that are sublimely abstract with slightly faster grooves, the belly of the work is filled with ethereal, vaporous moods that are designed to take you away, into the deepest regions of your mind - electronic sedation at its finest.

His productions under the name Pacou are as mesmerising and fresh as they were back then, and the artist has stuck to doing what he does best.
