Libera became a registered charity in under the guidance of the late Steven Philipp whose son Ben was a soloist in the choir. During the earlier years as Libera, the group seldom made any TV appearances and concerts were also few and far between. It is only since the group turned into a registered charity in the UK, where a board of trustees consisting largely of parents of members makes all decisions, that Libera have made regular tours usually three times a year and more frequent TV appearances.
Philip's Choir sang in an episode of the TV series Poirot. During the episode, it was mentioned that Libera had performed at Aled Jones' wedding. They won, and were invited back the following week. Libera also recorded the signature tune for Songs of Praise. On 30 and 31 May , Libera recorded two free concert performances at the Pieterskerk in Leiden , the Netherlands, with the cooperation of the American Public Television.
A movie preview for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button uses a brief selection from one of their songs, but they do not appear in the film's final soundtrack.
Several Libera members have performed solo work outside of Libera while still members of the choir. Libera has a distinctive sound. And that form of God-focused prayer and surrender is a great strength. It's a beautiful worship album that's tastefully layered in tone so that it grows richer with repeated listens.
One person found this helpful. Anybody with any familiarity of Telecast knows who they are and what they sound like. If you're thinking they may have progressed in their technique or sound over the past few years, think again.
While I enjoy throwing in Telecast from time to time when I'm looking for that just-right light worship to relax to, I won't find too much that will help in front of a large congregation. With that being said, my hat is off to the band for staying true to themselves and continuing to write good not great music.
Every track has something good to offer something I can't say about most artists but nothing that will knock your socks off. If you're looking for some melodic worship to relax with, then this album will fit the bill nicely. If you're a worship leader looking for cutting-edge tunes for your congregation, you may need to look to the usual Passion, Hillsong, and Steve Fee, Leeland, etc.
Overall, I'd give the album a 7 out of 10 or 3. Probably my all time favorite! Awesome CD; came on time and plays spectacularly! This is the amazing third release from the worship band, Telecast. Telecast's unique sound coupled with Josh's amazing voice make for a joyous and emotional connection with the Spirit through their music.
From the upbeat "Beautiful Mystery" to the genuine, heart-felt "Infinite Worth", this disc is a must have for anyone that enjoys contemporary worship music with a purely biblical message.
Thank you guys for doing what you do and may all the glory go to our King, Jesus Christ! Loved it and find this CD contagious; I just keep listening.
Admittedly, I've been hearing these songs at Solid Rock Church for the past many months, so I am biased, However, the songs translated to studio better than I'd have imagined.
Much has been packed into this recording. This CD is amazing! The songs just flow and lift you up on a pleasant and comforting ride. It's honest and beautiful and simply refreshing to hear. My favorite is the last song on the CD, Infinite Worth I like to rewind sometimes and here it again. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.
I have the disc "Beauty if Simplicity" and it plays over and over in my car. I truly love that album and if someone says which are your favourite tracks i would say 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. I know all the words and happy sing along. Ruthlessly ambitious, I was narrow and absorbed in my outlook, interested only in what related to my career.
Sal, when he first left home, went to church occasionally; but gradually the effort of making a choice to accept a religious faith and become part of a congregation came to seem unhelpful to the furtherance of his ambitions. Most people in the music business didn't have religion on their agendas. Sal's churchgoing became restricted to the odd Christmas. His friends were becoming alcoholics, breaking up relationships, sleeping around - in one instance catching VD - and Sal saw they were becoming increasingly unhappy.
Even big star contemporaries such as Duran Duran and Boy George seemed to lack true happiness. Sal came to question the importance of the success he had gained. Sitting in a hotel one day, he simply said aloud, 'God, if you're really there, please let me know. Nothing much happened until six months later when his friend Nick Beggs of Kajagoogoo suggested they visit the North Italian town of San Damiano, a place of pilgrimage for many Catholics.
The final part is that God really touched me in my heart and let me know that he was there - about six months after I had made my prayer. In my Catholic tradition people rush off to Lourdes, Medjugorje or Rome, with the idea that a place will do something for you. Going on a pilgrimage works because you are giving something - some time - to God.
It's the openness of heart - going the extra mile - that makes it work for people. Voluntary Opportunities Work Experience. Location: Home. Sal Solo - Look At Christ. Published in the CR Mag 7.
